Kathleen Souders

Preschool/Primary Team

I have been working in the early childhood field as a teacher, mentor and researcher most of my life. I hold a Master's degree in Human Development and Family Sciences, with a focus in Early Childhood Education. I have worked in classrooms, hospitals, family homes, and communities all across the globe.

My favorite role so far has been becoming a mama and being a homeschool teacher to my own two children during their early childhood years. Once both of my children were in full time school I returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher for Poudre School District to reconnect with our community in a variety of roles and realized I missed the deep connection of being in one school consistently. I feel incredibly grateful to be returning to the FUMC Co-Op community this year, where my youngest started preschool and where I was first a Workday Coordinator on the Parent Advisory Board.

I absolutely love the close community of our program and being in classrooms where teachers and families can form relationships and work together in a way that allows children to grow and thrive with support from the entire "village". The magic of the early years and preserving the joy and wonder of childhood is the best part of being in this role and I can't wait to meet each and every one of you!

When I'm not in the classroom, you can usually find me outside adventuring with my two children, my husband and our dog, either camping, hiking, paddleboarding, rock climbing or, if I'm lucky, sitting by the beach reading a good book. Always an adventure and I can't wait for this new adventure to begin!
