Co-op Style Learning

Parents are a vital part of the daily operation of our preschool.  In our co-op model, parents assist in their child’s classroom enabling them to acquire valuable insight into their child’s first school experience.  Teachers and parents work together to provide a safe space for emotional and physical development as well as helping to build social language and pre-academic skills.

Benefits of a Cooperative Preschool

- Parents have an opportunity to network with other preschool parents.

- Parents are better able to transfer the skills and guidance strategies from school to home.

- Parents can observe their child’s teacher to gain knowledge and ideas on how to engage with their preschooler.

- Parents and teachers are able to form a personal and individual connection while working together in the classroom.

- Children are given the chance to participate in a shared life experience with their parent.

- Children gain from the supportive relationship between school and home.

COMMUNICATION

One of the unique ways we communicate with our families is through a software program called Brightwheel. Brightwheel gives us the capability to send individual and group photos and messages in real time, letting parents know how their child is doing throughout the day. It also allows us to notify families of upcoming events, possible school closures and other important communications from the Preschool Director, classroom teachers and Parent Advisory Board members. Brightwheel enables parents to message their child’s teacher about late arrivals, absences and upcoming vacations, as well as providing a platform for any general questions or concerns they might have.
