Heather Windom
PreK Team
Hello! My name is Heather Windom, and I am so honored and excited to join the FUMC Preschool community! I have my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Florida in Sociology and Elementary Education (K-6) respectively. Before welcoming my oldest son, I worked as a classroom teacher for almost nine years (in FL, CO, NJ) and then made the decision to step away from the classroom to raise my two boys while being a stay-at-home mom. During that time, I continued to grow as an educator through continued coursework at UCLA Extension as well as University of Northern Colorado. I have worked as a homeschool mom to my two boys while our family was away on sabbatical and most recently, I worked as a licensed substitute with Poudre School District.
I have always been drawn to working with children, whether as a camp counselor or a paraprofessional or a classroom teacher. I enjoy working with kids and watching them grow in their academics as well as personally. From shy and unsure at the start of a school year to confident young learners by the end. There is magic found within the buzz of classroom where students feel safe, seen and given the chance to be authentically themselves within a community you helped to cultivate!
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two boys (you can usually find us on a baseball diamond), taking our Labradoodle on jogs, going for walks with our Bernedoodle puppy, reading and traveling to new places.
